Winnie Lan-In YangDr. Lan-In Winnie Yang has enjoyed successes not only as a pianist, but also as a composer. Her performance activities have taken her through Asia, Europe, and the United States, where she has had the opportunity to successfully premier her own compositions.

Her recent compositions include “Sonata for Violin and Piano”, written for and premiered by the Emerson String Quartet violinist, Philip Setzer, and pianist, Gilbert Kalish in New York and Smithsonian, Washington D.C in 2013; “Piano Concerto”, commissioned by Egret Cultural and Educational Foundation, will be premiered by the Taiwan National Symphony Orchestra in April 2014; “Fatasy for Erhu and Strings”, written for and premiered by Andy Lin and the New York Classical Players. Yang’s original music for “Dancing Dream”, a music video for erhu and piano, won the “Best Music Video Award” in the 2012 Mid-Atlantic Chinese Film Festival.

Yang holds her Bachelor’s degree from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, two Master’s degrees from the Manhattan School of Music (Piano) and Stony Brook University (Composition), and two Ph.D degrees (Piano, Composition) from the Stony Brook University (graduated with Award of Honor – Ackerman Excellence in Music).

As a pianist, Ms. Yang won the Stony Brook Concerto Competition and performed Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No.2 with the Stony Brook Symphony Orchestra under conductor Jeffrey Milarsky. Ms. Yang also appears in solo recitals and chamber concerts, in which she has played several of her compositions, in New York, San Francisco, Tokyo, Hong Kong, The Netherlands, Taipei and Kaohsiung, Taiwan. She was a two time winner of the Taiwan National Composition Competition, Taiwan National Piano Competition, JOC Youth Composition Competition, and AOJOC International Composition Competition.

Ms. Yang studied piano with Gilbert Kalish, Nina Svetlanova, and Alvin Chow, and composition with Peter Winkler, Anna Rubin, Richard Toensing, and Daria Semegen.

鋼琴家/作曲家-楊嵐茵 (Lan-In Winnie Yang),出生於台灣高雄,雄中音樂班畢業後出國深造,取得美國奧柏林音樂學院學士學位、紐約曼哈頓音樂學院鋼琴碩士學位及鋼琴演奏家文憑、紐約州立大學石溪分校理論作曲碩士學位及鋼琴演奏博士學位。現在是理論作曲博士候選人,並於該校擔任作曲助教。 近期演奏包括與Stony Brook交響樂團及指揮家Jeffrey Milarsky合作演出的拉赫曼尼諾夫第二號鋼琴協奏曲。頻繁的演出活動包括在紐約、舊金山、東京、香港、荷蘭、台北、高雄多次舉辦的個人鋼琴獨奏會、室內樂音樂會及作品發表會。 在台美兩地皆獲得多項音樂獎項,因成績優異被美國音樂協會(Pi Kappa Lambda)受邀成為榮譽會員,並受邀前往荷蘭參加國際音樂節,於荷蘭皇宮演奏。 近期創作曲包括由美國艾默森弦樂四重奏小提琴家Philip Setzer所委託創作的”小提琴奏鳴曲” ,將與鋼琴家Gilbert Kalish於2013年在紐約及華盛頓特區聯合首演。去年受陳郁秀教授委託,為台灣白鷺鷥文教基金會創會二十周年創作”鋼琴協奏曲”,將由台灣國家交響樂團首演。今年六月以原創曲”Dancing Dream (寫給鋼琴,中提琴/二胡)” 獲得第一屆美東華語電影節頒發 ”最佳原創音樂短片獎”。
