This painting features the backyard of a French man. The contrast between the light and shadow becomes a lively conversation as it reflects off the bicycle (steel horse) and the leaves, emphasizing the beauty that God has created.

Manhattan has always been linked with urbanity and fashion, but the city is also home to the unique, but almost forgotten, architectures in Soho. The old dog and historical buildings in the painting represent the everlasting friendship and memories.

This painting is inspired by my dad’s hardworking attitude in his old-fashioned convenience store. My dad has passed away already, but every time I look at this painting, I am filled with a strong feeling of reminiscence. In 2013, this piece was awarded “Excellent Work” by Taiwan’s National Pastel Artists Invitational Exhibition.
