We are a group of Sogetsu teachers and students who are dedicated to the advancement of Ikebana in the Greater Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, U.S.A. Most of our members reside either in Bucks County or Montgomery County of Pennsylvania. Hence we name our group Sogetsu BuxMont Study Group (Bux= Bucks County; Mont=Montgomery County.)
The Sogetsu BuxMont Study Group was established by Ms. Meei-huey Lin on May 2016. Ms. Lin, a native of Taiwan, whose interest in the Ikebana was influenced by her mother. She has been teaching Ikebana classes since 2004 and eventually applied to lead a study group along with her enthusiastic students.
The Group has actively participated in many flower arrangement exhibitions in the area, including Philadelphia Flower Show, the exhibits at a local church and Taiwanese-American East Coast Conference. The exhibitions demonstrated the creativity and talents of the Group and were well received.
The Study Group’s goal is to
“Expand love of nature and creativity through Sogetsu Ikebana.”
