TAFSD Mission Statement
The Taiwanese American Foundation of San Diego is to
strengthen and enhance the Taiwanese American individual and family life in San Diego by:

  • Engaging in charitable, educational and community activities that promote Taiwanese American culture and tradition in a diverse society.
  • Promoting the health and social well-being of members of the Taiwanese American community and enhancing their quality life.
  • Providing assistance to immigrants and other newcomers to our community.
Introduction
The Taiwanese American Foundation of San Diego (TAFSD) was founded in 1996 with the dedication and commitment of the Taiwanese American Community in San Diego. TAFSD is incorporated in the State of California as a nonprofit, public, and charitable organization. Donations to TAFSD are tax deductible. The Taiwanese American Community Center (TACC) is an operational unit of TAFSD.

 

Mission
TAFSD is dedicated to:

  • Promote Taiwanese American culture in a diverse society.
  • Promote the social well-being of members of the Taiwanese American community.
  • Provide assistance to immigrants and newcomers to the greater community of San Diego.
Facilities
TACC is currently located its permanent site at 7838 Wilkerson Court, San Diego, CA 92111. Our 13,000 sq. ft facility houses an impressive auditorium with a 400-person capacity, a library with more than 10,000 volumes, an art gallery, an indoor plaza, a conference room, a playroom for children, a classroom, and a full-equipped kitchen.
TAFSD Sponsored Activities
TAFSD activities are open to all people who are interested in Taiwanese American culture. We

  • Provide an annual “Trip to Taiwan” award in the Greater San Diego Technology & Science Fair.
  • Provide four to six $1,500 scholarships annually to graduating high school seniors in the Greater San Diego area.
  • Sponsor a variety of cultural activities. A “Taiwanese American Heritage Week” is held annually in May. “Culture and History Lecture Series” and “Understanding Sciences Series” are held on a quarterly basis.
TACC Programs & Classes
  • TACC facilitates gathering opportunities for Taiwanese-Americans in San Diego. Our programs for senior citizens include free health seminars, and recreational activities.
  • TACC participates in health and other social welfare functions in the San Diego area.
  • TACC hosts many clubs to accommodate various interests of members in the community. These clubs include the Senior Club, Folk Dance Club, Taiko Club, Book Club, Bridge Club, Hawaiian Dance Club, Line Dance Club, Hiking Club, Music & Movie Club, and a Women’s Club.
  • TACC provides social, fitness, and learning classes for the Taiwanese-American community. These include classes in aerobics, kendo and Tai-Chi Class.
