In this month's newsletter, we provide a brief illustration of some articles recently posted on our website:
Taiwan Center Foundation for Greater Los Angeles held a seminar which sharing the experiences of first generation of Taiwanese Americans doctors in establishing their practice in the US. Doctor Long Song (Simon) Lin pointed out that during the Vietnam War, there was a shortage of doctors in the United States, which led to a wave of Taiwanese doctors coming to work in the US.
A Taiwanese-American college student named Taliyah Huang developed a Taiwanese-English translation website called "BobaWay." This website not only helps second generation of Taiwanese American communicate better in Taiwanese with their elders but also named after Taiwan’s beloved bubble tea.
Effective July 1, 2023, Professor Margaret Shih assumes the role of department chair. Professor Shih, who holds the Neil Jacoby Chair in Management, is an expert on the effects of diversity in organizations and a member of the Management and Organizations area at UCLA Anderson School of Management.
