Yvonne Cheng 鄭瑜英

Yvonne Cheng graduated with a degree in music from the Shih Chien University in Taiwan and went to Milan, Italy to pursue advanced vocal study on scholarship at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory. She won several important awards at international competitions in Italy, including second prize at the International Competition for Puccinian Voices in Lucca, second prize in the Maria Caniglia Competition, a special prize for staging and interpretation in the Maria Callas Competition, and third prize and “Best Female Voice” in the City of Milan Competition. She made her operatic debut with Paesiello’s Idolo Cinese in Milan, and has since appeared in many operatic roles in Europe, and throughout Asia. She is especially noted for her interpretation of Violetta in La Traviata, Gilda in Rigoletto, Mimi in La Bohéme, and Liù in Turandot. Ms. Cheng frequently gives solo recitals in Italy, Switzerland, Asia, and the United States. She received a special invitation to perform at the Hong Kong and China reunification concert in 1997 and has performed with the New York Grand Opera at Carnegie Hall. She has an impressive repertoire, encompassing Oratorio, Cantata, Lieder, Chanson, and Chinese art and folk songs. She also twice won first prize in the advanced group at the annual National Association of Teachers of Singing competition, and completed her Master of Music and Music Education degree at Columbia University Teachers College in May 2009. Fluent in both Chinese and Italian she is a resident of Stamford, CT, where she teaches private voice lessons.

1980年於台灣實踐家專(實踐大學前身)畢業後，前往義大利國立米蘭威爾第音樂學院(Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory)進修. 於1984年及1986年 分別獲得聲樂演唱家及聲樂室內樂演唱文憑。在2008年獲得西康乃克州立大學音樂學士學位，2009年五月取得紐約哥倫比亞大學教師學院的音樂與音樂教育碩士學位.

鄭瑜英旅居義大利十年間連續獲得1983年及1984年普啟尼Puccini國際聲樂大賽第二名，1986年Maria Caniglia國際聲樂大賽第二名，1988年Maria Callas 國際聲樂大賽決賽者及最佳舞台表演獎，1988年米蘭國際聲樂大賽第三名及最美女聲獎. 旅美其間亦於2007年及2008年贏得美國教師學會聲樂比賽高階組第一名.

鄭瑜英的演唱經驗非常豐富且演出曲目廣泛，包括歌劇，神劇，聖樂，德，法，義，英，西班牙，中，等各國的藝術歌曲。演出遍佈歐洲，美國，亞洲各地。演出曲目包括從在米蘭首演Paesiello的Idolo Cinese之後，「茶花女」， 「弄臣」，「波西米亞人」，「杜蘭朵公主」，「安潔莉卡修女」，「第一百個新娘」...等歌劇女主角。聖樂:韓德爾的 「彌賽亞」，夢德爾頌的「Elijah」 ，羅西尼的「Stabat Mater」，德佛戛克的「Stabat Mater」，威爾第， 布拉姆思，佛瑞，莫札特等的「安魂曲」，海頓的「創世紀」「Mass In Time Of War」，羅西尼的「Messe Solennelle」，韋瓦第的「Gloria」， 莫札特的 「Coronation Mass」「Regina Coeli」，巴哈的「Cafe Cantata」....等女高音獨唱

1997年鄭瑜英應香港音樂節邀請，參加香港九七回歸音樂會演出。2000年及20001年獲紐約大歌劇團(New York Grand Opera)邀請在卡內基維爾廳演唱 「歌劇選粹」. 並曾受義大利，瑞士，法國，英國，台灣國立交響樂團， 台灣中正文化中心，台北市立國樂團，高雄市立國樂團，行政院文化建設委員會邀請演出.
