Our story:

In early 2000, we started discussing the history of Taiwanese Americans with various   Taiwanese American organizations and individuals, such as; Taiwan Centers, T.A.A., news media, summer conferences, etc…

In 2001, a project was set up with Houston Taiwan Center displaying T. A. artifacts and documents in their library.

In 2003, a nationwide project “Taiwanese American Community Scholarship” for high school senior students in the U. S. was launched. We worked with a number of T. A. organizations.  Thousands of scholarships were awarded in the last 13 years.

In 2005, a conference was held in Irvine, CA with many leaders from major T. A. organizations to discuss issues of Taiwanese Americans, including history of our ethnic group.

In 2010, a project for collecting publications by Taiwanese Americans was set up in Taiwan Center/ San Diego/CA.

In 2013, a committee, consisting of 5 members, was set up and the first committee meeting was conducted on August 21, 2013 via a conference call. The project of “The History of Taiwanese Americans” was officially established.  A painting project, with a theme “The Road We Have Been Travelling” was announced to the public and a website was setup soon thereafter.

In 2013, supported monetary the start of Taiwanese American History Society in Los Angeles and provided them whith information and website name for their website.

In Feb., 2014, an office about 4,000 square feet was rented in Irvine, CA as the Taiwanese American Archives Center.

Currently, we have hired full time, part-time employees and volunteers, from the U. S. and Taiwan. With our best efforts, we search , collect information related to T. A. history and post in our website after the approval of our committees. The collected books, magazines, documents and artifacts are kept in T. A. Archives Center.

Current projects:

Following are the  projects we currently emphasize, but not limited:

1)  The collection of chapter directories of the Taiwanese American Associations (TAA). We would like to collect at least one issue from each chapter and post the front cover of the directory on the website. We are also interested in collecting those ones, which are no longer operational.

2)  The collection of all T.A. organizations in the U. S., their names and related information, including those no longer operational.

3)   The collection of bio information of all Taiwanese Americans, your friends and yourself, for “Who’s who” section of the website. This section is not just for successful and famous people.

4)  The collection of Photos, individuals and organizations, pertaining to our History, to set up pages in Photo Albums or included in the articles of other sections after our evaluation.

5)  The collection of books, magazines, documents and artifacts related to Taiwanese Americans.
