Youming Chen 陳猶明, Violist
Born in Taiwan, Youming Chen is an active chamber and orchestral violist residing in New York City. As winner of Rutgers Symphony Orchestra concerto competition, he will be performing the revised edition of Bartok viola concerto with orchestra in November 2006. Mr. Chen was the founding member of the Fader Piano Quartet at The Juilliard School and a former violist of the Gustave Rosseels Quartet at University of Michigan. At the 58th Coleman Chamber Ensemble Competition in California, Fader Quartet won the Saunderson Award. He has also appeared at the Michigan Chamber Players and the Ann Arbor Chamber Fest 2002. Mr. Chen is currently a candidate for Doctor of Musical Arts at Rutgers University studying under Paul Neubauer and Toby Appel. He received his Master’s degree with Hsin-Yun Huang at the Juilliard School and Bachelor’s degree from University of Michigan with Yizhak Schotten.
陳猶明中提琴家陳猶明,出生於台北台灣,擁有茱麗亞中提琴演奏碩士及密西根大學學士,現在獲得全額獎學金於Rutgers大學博士班候選人。自幼學習小提琴、中提琴,師事林佳蓉、林安誠、楊惠蘭。1993年台灣全國中提琴比賽第一名,中學就讀於加州艾德華藝術中學與印第安那州Bloomington南高中。1998年考上印第安那大學師事Alan de Veritch。2000年轉入密西根大學並獲得全額獎學金,師事Yizhak Schotten。2003年獲得獎學金進入茱麗亞音樂學院就讀,師事黃心芸。暑假期間曾參於太平洋音樂節與Aspen夏令營。曾擔任過Flint交響樂團副首席,Ann Arbor交響樂團客任首席,2005年在茱麗亞100週年樂團歐洲旅行被邀請為中提琴首席與名指揮家Sir Colin Davis和James dePriest同台演出。2006年贏得Rutgers交響樂團比賽得主之一,代表弦樂與樂團演出修訂版的Bartok中提琴協奏曲。
