Brief note of The Plains Region Fall Camp
In 1983 , Professors CD Lin, Joe Tiao, L.C. Fan, K.L. Huang at Kansas State University , Manhattan, Kansas gathering to discuss about the possibility of annual Taiwanese Fall Camp in Labor Day weekend and not in the summer period.
Taiwanese in Kansas ( Manhattan, Topeka, Wichita, Lawrence and Metro Kansas City),
Missouri, Oklahoma, Iowa, Colorado and Nebraska will take turn to hold this meeting.
A decision was made to hold the first Taiwanese Plains Region Fall Camp in 1985, and Professor CD Lin will organize the meeting with help from Taiwanese at Manhattan , Kansas.

台灣人平原區秋令會歷史簡介
源自1985年在堪薩市州曼哈頓市舉辦第一屆。（堪州州立大學所在地）由林啓東教授會同當地同郷：刃明華，范良正，黃金來諸教授共同于1983年構想推動，并于1985召開。
因為當地暑假學生不在，各人暑假時間忙碌，所以定於九月勞動節召開，并名為平原區秋令會，以別於一般夏令會或中西部夏令會。
包括了Kansas,Missouri,Iowa,Colorado,Oklahoma,Nebraska 六卅。依序於各地舉辦：

Plains Region Fall Camp was starting in 1985 at Manhattan, Kansas, and rotated around Manhattan, Kansas City, Denver, Oklahoma, St. Louis and Iowa Taiwanese organizations.
The first meeting, organized by Professor C.D. Lin of Kansas State University, held at Rock Spring 4 H Camp, and main theme is “All Taiwanese getting together”.
The 2nd Plains Region Fall Camp in 1986 was organized by Professor Bob Yang of Kansas City Taiwanese, (TAKC) and again at Rock Spring 4 H Camp. Former Vice President of Taiwan, Ms. Hsiu-lien Anette Lu was the keynote speaker.
In 1996, Plains Taiwanese Summer Conference, July 19~21, (Friday~Sunday), was hosted by TAKC again.

台灣同郷會平原區理事長童海南來函

今年平原區台灣人秋令會，在堪薩斯同郷會友們，日以繼夜,辛勤籌備中，終於在大家的關心及期待下，要隆重啓幕, 感謝堪薩斯同郷會。
十三年前，即是1983年，在Manhattan, Kansas臺灣同郷范良正，刁明華，黃金來(Huang) 及 Overland Park, Kansas 楊景文諸位先覺前輩（其他前輩，未能一一列舉，請原諒！），尤感平原區有成立秋令會的構想，偶發於徐福棟先生的積極提議、鼓舞，有必要成立之迫切感，後經林啓東先生熱心的籌備，召集和推動，遂于1985年在Manhattan, Kansas 的四健會（4-H club) 集訓地 — Rock Spring 創辦第一屆平原區台灣人秋令會，地跨中部平原六大卅： Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Nebraska 林啓東先生以台灣人 “大家來，來做堆” 為第一屆年會之主題，創見決心要和中國人分開，離中國越遠越好之遠見，這種想法，在今日 1996年代台灣人的處境，似印證無錯。有人欲把台灣人和中國人送做堆，台灣人正是嘸那樣衰！
今年度的秋令會，再借力 Kansas City 同郷會郷親之熱忱，義不容辭,接落來承辦，本人無任感謝及欽佩，謹祝大會成功。
平原區，牧野廣闊，是美洲一大平原，至於秋令會名稱的由來，有別於其他台灣東西南北夏令會名稱，可謂是一獨特的平原秋高氣爽，一年如秋之風格，為著尊重及懷念創會之精神，繼續保留「秋令會」傳統名稱。
「秋令會」創始至今年度的大會，主題由「大家來，來做堆」至「台灣前途的探討」。咱全體台灣人急需共同再來思考台灣未來前途—是不是?邁向二十一世紀的台灣(1995主題)要再聽命於第三者把台灣和中國送作堆?應該不是那樣「衰」才對!
