See the Light

49.Inspiration for the Exhibition

As an artist, vision is the most important senses to me. Over ten years ago, I received a letter from Helen Keller International and learned that it only takes two doses of concentrated vitamin A to prevent blindness for a person for one year – at a cost of approximately $1. I was so deeply touched when I learned this that I began donating to Helen Keller International and have been a faithful contributor ever since.

When I started the “See the Light” series, my intention was to show the beauty of hope in an abstract form. Then a thought came to me: What better way to spread hope than to dedicate 50% of the exhibition proceeds to a world-changing organization like Helen Keller International? My idea was met with enthusiasm when my daughter and I contacted the organization. It has been a fulfilling experience to partner with Helen Keller International in utilizing my art as a vehicle to promote and contribute to causes such as blindness prevention. It is my sincere hope to continue to work with non-profit organizations to make a difference as an artist and a citizen of the world.
