Artistic Director of Youth Orchestra, CYCNY

Patsy Fang Chen was born in Taipei, Taiwan, graduated with the highest honor from the current National Taiwan University of Arts, majored in Piano Performance, and was awarded the Outstanding Alumna of NTUA in 1997. She received her master’s degree in Music Education from New York University in 1980.

Since 1970, she has been living in Brooklyn with her husband Dr. Wen Jer Chen, and had raised two daughters, Wendy and Justine who are both professional musicians and composers.

Besides teaching piano lessons, she works as concert manager, promoter and publicist in Greater New York area since 1986. Coordinating concerts, such as: the Chinese-American Oscar-Winning Composer, Tan Dun’s US Debut Concert with New York City Symphony at Avery Fisher Hall of Lincoln Center in 1988; and in 1995,” Taiwan Culture Night” featuring Brooklyn Philharmonic Orchestra to perform works by the 20th Century Taiwanese Composers, at Avery Fisher Hall of Lincoln Center. She also helped in promoting the Brooklyn Neighborhood Orchestra concerts in the 90’s. From 1993-2003, Chen had worked for Queens Symphony Orchestra as community Liaison in promoting concerts that featuring Asian artists. As the Artistic Director of Youth Orchestra CYCNY, she presents its Annual Concert at Lincoln Center since 2002.

Ms. Chen also manages chamber music and orchestra concert tours to West Coast, Japan, China, Taiwan and Europe.
