Dear TAA-NJ members and friends
 
 “Island Beach State Park Excursion” has been rescheduled on August 11 (this coming Saturday). Below are the details for the trip.  (Rain or shine this time !!)
Time: August  11 (Saturday) , 2018, 4pm- 8pm.
Place:   Island Beach State Park, NJ (http://www.state.nj.us/dep/parksandforests/parks/island.html)
 
Activities: 
 
4:00 pm – 8 pm (Group activity), Clamming, crabbing, canoeing/kayaking at the bay (low tide will be ~6:29 pm).
3:30pm We will meet at the last modern rest room facility (the one with a wind mill) right before the end of paved road in IBSP. There are limited parking space. If it is full, you need to park your cars in another parking lot. Don’t park at the road side. You will get tickets.
 
Before 3:30 pm (Self managed activities): Hiking or walking on the beach, swimming/surfing at bathing areas.  
 
What to Bring:
 
*** We need to wade ~ 3-5 feet in potentially chest-deep water to crabbing/clamming areas. Be sure to wear appropriate clothing (or swim suite). We have a canoe (provided by Mark) to shuttle kids to the clamming area. Carry minimal stuff with you. 
 
Park entry fee: ~ $10/car(NJ resident), $20/car(non-resident). Car pools strongly encouraged.
– Your favorite drinks and food (no alcohol allowed). There is a nice hot-water shower facility in the First Bathing Area with a food and drinks.
– Bring a zip-lock plastic bag to keep your wallet, cell phone and license dry.
– Suntan lotion,  Bug spray (many bug at this beach), swim ware, beach towel, hats, changing clothes, etc. 
– Canoe, Kayak,  sailboat, tube – anything that floats (optional).
– Rakes for clamming and small buckets/mesh bags to keep clams. Do not bring Kids’ toys. Wear sneakers is encouraged.
– Clamming license is required if you plan to keep clams.  You can go to your fishing equipment shop to obtain Clamming license before July 30. Alternatively, you can do it online (https://www.nj.wildlifelicense.com/ALS/licCtrl.php). If you are over 62 years old your license if for life. Park rangers checked license almost every time we went there.
-Driving 25 miles on the Island Beach State Park !

– May/June  :   Passport to Taiwan.  
July 1-4: TAC/EC
July 21 or 28:  IBSP Beach excursion; clamping/crabbing, 
August 25, 12 – 5 pm : TAA-NJ Picnic, Mercer Park East Picnic area.
– Sep : UN for Taiwan. Bus available 
– Oct : Fall Hiking trip, location to be determined 
– November/December: Lectures and talks
 
– 2019 January: Hiking
– 2019 New Year Celebration:  年會  

Dear TAANJ members and friends, 
If you would like to volunteer, or to recommend a person, to serve as Board member please let me know before Thursday.  Please send me the contact information for the potential candidates, and make sure you obtain agreements before sending me the information.   
We accidentally canceled our event reservation yesterday and when tried to rebook the same venue again we were only able to secure 11 am – 3 pm time slot. Therefore, we have to adjust our program schedule, and unfortunately, we have to cut the dance session.
The good news is that the location for the event is unchanged and we are honored to have an additional guest from TECO- NYC  (楊光彬 副處長 ) to attend our celebration event.
