Yi-Ju Chen 陳怡如, Violinist

Dr. Yi-Ju Chen 陳怡如, section violist of the Winston-Salem Symphony Orchestra, was born in Changhua, Taiwan. Prior to coming to the United States, Ms. Chen was a member of the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra, where she cooperated with many world renowned conductors and artists and toured extensively throughout Asia. In addition, Ms. Chen has performed in many countries around the world; her concerts have taken her to France, Austria, Hungary, and Romania. She has spent her summers at the Aspen Music Festival in Colorado, the Kent/Blossom Music Festival in Ohio, the Great Mountains Music Festival in South Korea, and the Conservatoire Américain of the Ecoles d’Art Américaines in Fontainebleau, France. She also served as an orchestra scholar in the Eastern Music Festival in Greensboro, North Carolina in 2012. Dr. Chen earned the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the Catholic University of America, the Master of Music degree from the Peabody Conservatory of Music, and the Bachelor of Arts degree from the Soochow University. Her principal teachers include Tsuna Sakamoto, Victoria Chiang, and Chung-Chen Chen.
