Charles W. Tang 唐瑋廷, piano

B.M. and M.M. in piano performance, The Juilliard School; B.S. in computer science, Columbia University; and M.S. in media technology, MIT. Mr. Tang was born in Kaohsiung City, Taiwan. In 1982, he was officially recognized by the R.O.C. Ministry of Education as a “Gifted Child in the Performing Arts,” and subsequently came to the U.S. to further his musical studies. Mr. Tang studied under Kathrine Parker and Martin Canin at The Juilliard School, and learned to play zheng (Chinese zither) under the world-renowned zheng master WANG Changyuan. Mr. Tang has since won many competitions and awards, including the Gerald Tracy Competition and the McDonald Prize. He has lectured and performed on the piano, zheng, and koto at The Juilliard Theater, Lincoln Center, Merkin Hall, Japan Society, Shea Stadium, Yale University, Columbia University, and many other concert halls and universities in the U.S. Mr. Tang currently teaches at the Renaissance Music and Arts School in New York. He has been a member of, and composer-in-residence for, the Drum Spirit of China since 1997. 茱麗亞學院鋼琴演奏學士、碩士,哥倫比亞大學電腦學士,麻省理工學院電腦媒體科技碩士。唐瑋廷出生於台灣高雄市,1982年經中華民國教育部甄選為「藝術表演資賦優異兒童」而後獲保送來美深造。唐瑋廷曾師事茱麗亞學院名鋼琴家Martin Canin及Kathrine Parker,並跟隨著名箏演奏家王昌元學習古箏。唐瑋廷曾獲多項鋼琴比賽大獎,包括Gerald Tracy Competition 及 McDonald Prize,並曾於茱麗亞劇場,林肯中心、墨金演奏中心、日本協會表演廳、謝亞球場,耶魯大學、哥倫比亞大學等地講學及演出鋼琴、箏等樂器。唐瑋廷目前任教於紐約「小亞歷的音樂美術學院」。
