北美洲台灣人醫師協會國際義診團

背景：北美洲台灣人醫師協會成立於1984年，由台美醫師，牙醫師及醫學相關人士所組成的專業團 體。會員分佈全美國各州，有十六個分會，一千多位會員。國際義診是協會的工作重點。從 2003到2013年已進入第十年，由2003年12月Grenada，2005年3月Costa Rica，2006年8月 Panama，2007 年 3 月 Guatemala 及 9 月 Panama，2008 年 2 月 Haiti 及 8 月 Nicaragua，2009 年 3月 Dominican Republic，2011 年 1 月 Belize，2012 年 4 月 Guatemala，2013 年三月 Dominican Republic， 到2014年一月Myanmar (緬甸）。十年來12次義診看病的人次已超過兩萬人。以中南美洲與台灣有邦交的國家為主。
NATMA義診團的特色：
1. 龐大的醫療團隊-團隊以協會會員為核心，能提供多科目的服務。多年來包括內科，家醫科， 小兒科，婦產科，外科，眼科，驗光科，復健科，針灸科，以及牙科等。
2. 攜帶式牙科治療台-牙科團隊經過多年來的蛻變，已由拔牙、補牙增進到擁有全面消毒的口腔 外科器械，及可提供全套服務的牙科治療台，和先進的Digital x-ray。
3. 國民醫療外交-由於NATMA義診團人數多，服務項目寬廣，歷年來引起當地國的重視。除了 義診當地政要人士都會來參與開幕儀式外，多年來團隊與巴拿馬衛生部長，瓜地馬拉衛生部 長，多明尼加衛生部長，貝里斯外交部長，尼加拉瓜議長都有會面。2006年巴拿馬第一夫人 Vivian Hernandez De Torrojos接見義診團幹部，2007年邀請所有團員在總統府共進早餐。2008年尼加拉瓜總統Daniel Ortega及2013年多明尼加副總統Margarita Cedeno de Fernandez特別安排在總統府接見團員。 2011年貝里斯總統夫人Kim Simplis Barrow，2012年瓜地馬拉總統夫人Rosa Leal de Perez都來探視及感謝團員的奉獻。
4. 醫學交流—2005年在哥斯大黎加醫學院，2007年在瓜地馬拉Francisco Marroquin醫學院，2009年及 2013 年分別在多明尼加的 Dr. Robert Reid Cabral Hospital 及 Dr. Ney Arias Lora Hospital 舉辦醫學演講會。
5. 贊助及關懷-2006年捐助牙科器材，白米及獎學金並送藥到巴拿馬原住民區，2007年捐贈大 禮堂坐椅給巴拿馬的高中學校，2008贊助尼加拉瓜當地台灣人醫師創設的AMOS Foundation。 至今仍繼續贊助AMOS foundation的醫療服務。
The NATMA (North American Taiwanese Medical Association) International Medical Team has served 12 missions in 8 nations from 2003 to 2014 treating over 20,0000 patients. The NATMA team has provided services in internal medicine, family medicine, pediatrics, gynecology, surgery, ophthalmology, optometry, physical medicine and rehabilitation, acupuncture and dental. Our dental team can perform multiple tasks with their portal dental units. On top of medical services, we provide health education and medical seminars at local medical schools and hospitals, and donate funds or goods to the communities.
Our services are well recognized by allied governments. For the past 10 years we have had opportunities to meet with the ministers of health departments and foreign affairs departments of various countries. Notably, we have been welcomed and honored by the Vice President of the Dominican Republic, President of Nicaragua, as well as the First Ladies of Panama, Belize, and Guatemala.
