Taiwan’s Proud Son And Formosa’s Glory: The Story of Jeremy Lin

序言 (一) PREFACE (I)

I have known Professor Henry Tseng for almost fifty years. Since coming to the United States, he added to his law degree from a University in Taiwan with numerous degrees like Master of Library Science, Juris Doctor, Master of Law, and Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Administration etc. from various American Universities. He served as tenured Professor of Law and Director of Law Library in two state capitals’ schools of law. His expertise was in intellectual property and copyright law, and he wrote “New Copyright U.S.A.” in 1979, a guide for both teachers and librarians, wrote & compiled “The Law Schools of the World” in 1977. He also authored a “Complete Guide to Legal Materials in Microform” in 1976, among others. Quite a few of his articles and book reviews have appeared in many professional journals.

That is the academic side of Professor Tseng. He has a deep devotion to Taiwan. His abiding love for the island country is constant and contagious. Every time the sons and daughters of Taiwan made news around the world, he is always so exalted to spread the word that the people of Taiwan are so proud of them. Examples abound. Dr. Yuan T. Lee (李遠哲) won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1986. Jason Wu (吳季剛) designed twice the inaugural ball gowns for First Lady Michelle Obama. Dr. W. P. Andrew Lee (李為平), a surgeon at Johns Hopkins University, recently did a double-arm transplant for a veteran successfully. Yani Tseng (曾雅妮), the world’s top-ranked lady golfer, has been sensational. Last year, Jeremy Lin (林書豪) became a phenom in NBA. Professor Tseng has collected more than 55 descriptions like Linsanity, Linsomnia, Lincinderella, VaLINtime, etc. He is all in when he focuses his attention on a certain project, and this book is a wonderful culmination of that effort.

It is a great tribute to Jeremy Lin as the first Taiwanese-American NBA player. It is also a great manifestation of Henry’s love for Taiwan that this work comes into being.
