台美人宗教研習會2014特刊

前言

從2009年台美人宗教研習會成立以來，一直受到北美洲與全世界的同鄉極力支持。為了慶祝宗教研習會創立五週年，於2014年10月25日在橘縣會議中心舉辦一場特別演講會，主題是「向生命說Yes！尋求生命的意義」。我們很榮幸能夠請到專家來與我們分享從科學、哲學與各宗教立場來探討生命的意義。這是台美人宗教研習會創立以來最有意義的活動。

為了要保存演講會的内容，讓我們這一代與子孫能夠分享，研習會決定用英語與漢字出版特刊。我們感謝所有講師的合作，使這本特刊順利發行。為了使讀者更容易瞭解演講，我們同時附上演講使用的幻燈片。

很感謝理事、顧問、會友與朋友們的支持與鼓勵，我們順利的完成了演講會。我在此特別感謝葉綉美女士（黃哲陽醫師夫人）與張信惠女士（葉思雅醫師夫人）花了很多精神與時間關照演講會的細節，使一切順利進行，也感謝Sergi夫人（葉明宜女士）幫助特刊英文編輯的細節。

最重要的，我要感謝所有台美人宗教研習會會友多年來的支持，使我們研習會逐漸走向各宗教間互相瞭解與對話的使命。

Preface

Since establishing the Taiwanese-American Religious Study Association, Southern California (TARSA-SC) in 2009, we have received strong support from Taiwanese-Americans all over the United States and across the globe. To commemorate TARSA-SC’s 5th anniversary, we hosted a special conference entitled, “Say Yes to Life！Searching for the Meaning of Life” on October 25, 2014, at the Orange County Conference Center. We are grateful to the experts who came and shared their thoughts on the meaning of life from scientific, philosophical and religious perspectives. It was the most successful and meaningful event in TARSA-SC’s history.

To preserve the contents of the conference, and to share them with future generations, the association decided to publish a special issue of the conference proceedings in both English and Hanji. I appreciate all the speakers’ cooperation in accomplishing this task. These proceedings also include the accompanying slides from all the presentations.

I am grateful for the strong support and encouragement of our board members, advisors, members and friends who made this conference possible. I especially wish to acknowledge the tireless support of Mrs. Anna Huang and Mrs. Grace Yeh who help with the details behind the association’s activities. I also wish to thank Mrs. Carol Yeh-Sergi for her editorial support.

Most importantly, I wish to thank our members who continue to support TARSA-SC and our mission of interfaith understanding and dialogue.
